On 22 January 2010, INSB and the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for statutory work to Nigerian flagged vessels.
The latter MOU follows the provisions of IMO Resolution A.739 (18) and expands further the level and scope of INSB’s previous authorization status, to include several other statutory instruments.
It is highlighted that the society’s African Regional Office (INSB Nigeria Ltd), which has contributed to a large extent in the development of strong relations with NIMASA over the years, played a primary role in the achievement of the MOU validation.
INSB considers the validation of the MOU with NIMASA as a significant achievement, enabling the society to offer expanded statutory survey and certification services to ship owners, managers or operators whose fleet is registered under the Nigeria Flag.
